2024 London Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
As the capital of the United Kingdom, London bears much of Great Britain’s glory, and it is here that the traditional British ambiance is both deeply rooted and carried forth. The lofty figures of the imposing Parliament Building and London Tower Bridge are landmarks of London, and you can easily view this classical architecture by taking a tourist boat along the Thames River. At the same time, as one of the world's three major financial centers and a place where all cultures of the world gather together, London is also rapidly modernizing. There are art galleries and a forest of skyscrapers, and riding up on the London Eye, which symbolized the new millennium, you can enjoy London's beautiful skyline!

Top tips for a great trip to London
Went for a London trip in October and really enjoyed every bit of it. Here are some of my tips:
- Visit the tower bridge/tower of London/Westminster abbey and surrounding landmarks at night for a very nice view and photos of the landmarks.
- Changing of the guard at Buckingham palace: ensure to go there early at around 10am to get a good spot. It gets really crowded and the police will block the roads
- Visit the Natural gallery is a must if you’re an art lover! I loved this museum a lot, there were works from Van Gogh, Claude Monet and many other artists that inspired them, along with several other European artists that I also grew to love as I went around the exhibition. Really good variety of art shown and very clean environment. One of the best art museums visited. You don’t have to book a slot and can walk in.
- Catch a musical! It’s a must, I recommend Les Miserables (classic), Book of Mormon (funny) or phantom of the opera (classic too). Heard Six is good too.
- Blank Street coffee is really good. Especially their white chocolate matcha
- Visit markets is a must! I liked Camden market but there’s others such as Borough market, Old spitafields etc

Landmarks in London You Must Visit!
One of the must-see landmarks in London is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. This place is filled with historical stories and stunning architecture beyond description. The surrounding scenery allows you to see the River Thames flowing peacefully, providing a sense of relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of the big city. Standing here and looking at Big Ben and the Parliament makes you feel like you've traveled back to the Victorian era. If you have the chance to visit London, I recommend stopping by here and taking beautiful photos as a souvenir. I believe the beauty and atmosphere of this place will leave a lasting impression on you.
🌏⛪ Gaia at Southwark Cathedral: A Captivating Encounter
#100waysoftravel #historicallandmarks #cathedral #gaia #art
My recent visit to Southwark Cathedral to see Luke Jerram's Gaia was nothing short of captivating. The installation, a seven-meter replica of Earth, hangs suspended in the nave, commanding attention the moment you step inside. It's a truly impressive sight, the sheer scale of it dwarfing everything else in the cathedral.
What makes Gaia so compelling is the incredible level of detail. The artwork uses high-resolution NASA imagery, so you can make out continents, oceans, and even cloud formations. It's like having the world in your hands, or at least a very detailed miniature version of it. And it's not just a static display; the globe slowly rotates, giving you a dynamic view of our planet. This movement, combined with the ethereal music playing in the background, creates a mesmerizing and almost meditative atmosphere.
Beyond the visual spectacle, Gaia also prompts reflection. Seeing Earth presented in this way, hanging delicately in the vast space of the cathedral, evokes a sense of awe and wonder. It's a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of all life and the fragility of our planet. In the context of the cathedral, the artwork takes on an even deeper meaning, prompting contemplation about our place in the universe and our responsibility to care for our shared home.
The overall experience was enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff, who were clearly passionate about the installation. The cathedral itself, with stunning architecture and peaceful ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for Gaia. And at just £5 for entry, it's an incredibly accessible and rewarding experience.
Whether you're an art enthusiast, a science buff, or simply someone looking for a moment of quiet contemplation, I highly recommend a visit to see Gaia at Southwark Cathedral. It's a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
Sunset, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the London Eye
It's rare to see a sunset in London. The weather in London is usually not very good, and it's hard to even see a blue sky, let alone a sunset. This time, I was lucky enough to witness it, so I took a walk along the Thames to enjoy the sunset views of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the London Eye. I managed to see all these famous tourist spots at once and also enjoyed a rare London sunset. It felt amazing.
London One-Day City Walk.
My stay in the UK is very short, only 3 days, so I took one day for a City Walk in London!
My friend had booked a French restaurant early in the morning. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with flowers, and the food was exquisite. It was a great recommendation.
After enjoying the French cuisine, we started our City Walk. It felt like a guided tour with my friend leading us. Without a planned itinerary, it might have taken us much longer to navigate on our own.
Our first stop was Jubilee Market Hall, which had a variety of nostalgic items like old cameras, magnets, clocks, etc. Although the market wasn't very large, it had a rich and diverse selection. I found it to be a unique market and a great place to buy souvenirs.
We then passed by Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column, walking along Victoria Embankment all the way to Westminster Bridge.
The London Eye, Westminster Bridge, Palace of Westminster, and Big Ben are must-visit photo spots, so there were a lot of people. Having seen these landmarks on TV news many times, it felt very different to see them in person.
After taking photos, we took the subway to Harrods to buy some souvenirs. Finally, we ended up eating spicy rice noodles in Chinatown. Even after traveling for a long time, I still miss Hong Kong cuisine.
The above are just my personal feelings and sharing.

London's Popular Markets
Borough Market
💫💫💫💫💫
The traditional market is surrounded by many interesting places and is very close to London Bridge, making it a must-visit spot on your London trip. The market is large with a wide variety of choices. Here, you can find a diverse range of foods and snacks from many parts of the world. It's a great place to taste local delicacies with many food and drink options. The atmosphere is vibrant and busy, and you'll need a few hours to see everything.
London city walk.
London, I want to simply talk about my thoughts and suggestions! Because it is the New Year period, most of them are traveling with children, so the main thing is to let the children know about the UK and London. Then make a plan according to the number of days of travel! This is the most important thing, you have a purpose! Because we are tourists for just over a week, so what do you want to play and how to play? Some places are optional.
Generally speaking, London is basically at least 2-3 days. So how to walk is more effective, don't go back. Divide London into 2 routes of City of Westminster and City of London!
Don't watch two museums a day, because if you want to listen to professional explanations, it's best to have a museum a day, and a city walk in the morning or afternoon. The best public transportation in London is convenient and fast, saving time. Generally, the first time visitors to the UK, they have to walk around the City of Westminster first. If you want to watch the changing of the guard, you have to walk in the city in the morning (the changing of the guard ceremony is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in February) The time is at 11 o'clock, it is recommended to arrive near Buckingham Palace around 10:45) If you want to see clearly, it is recommended to wait at the barracks on the side of Birdcage Walk, the Royal Guard will start from here, and there are not many people here!
If you don't want to watch the changing of the guard, then come to Buckingham Palace in the afternoon, go to the British Museum or other museums in the morning, so that there will be relatively fewer people during peak hours. Generally, you will come out of Westminster subway station by subway. I suggest you come out of St James’s Park station. You can start from Westminster Abbey, then Parliament Square, Big Ben-You can go to Westminster Bridge and see the London Eye (⚠️ Bridge thief) Take a photo of the Houses of Parliament)-Walk Whitehall (Prime Minister's Office, Foreign Office, Treasury, Ministry of Defense)-Royal Cavalry Camp-Trafalgar Square-Themall-Buckingham Palace-St Jame Park You can rest and eat in the surrounding hotels at noon. In the afternoon, you can choose a museum. The National Gallery is next to Trafalgar Square.
On the second day, you can visit the British Museum in the morning, and you can walk from Fleet Street to St Paul's Cathedral in the afternoon-Millennium Bridge-Then walk along the river, finally reaching Tower Bridge, London Tower! It is recommended to go to Tower Bridge in the afternoon. If there is sunshine, the afternoon photo looks better without backlight! After arriving at Tower Bridge, you can take a Thames cruise and return to the London Eye.
On the third day, if you like maritime affairs, you can go to Greenwich Observatory-Navy Museum-Old Naval Academy-Finally, you can take a cruise or light rail train back to the city center. If you like museums, you can go to the Natural History Museum or the VA Museum.
Basically, London city walk basically has to be more than 15,000 steps a day

London Travel Recommendation: The Royal Charm of Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British royal family and one of London's most iconic attractions, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year. This palace is not only the home of the British monarch but also a symbol of history and culture. Here, I will introduce the charm of Buckingham Palace and why it is a must-visit destination in London.
Magnificent Architecture
Built in 1703, Buckingham Palace was initially a nobleman's house before gradually becoming the official residence of the royal family. The palace's exterior is grand and classical, with a majestic main gate and elegant walls that immediately evoke a strong royal atmosphere. The intricate details and luxurious decorations of the architecture showcase the unique style of British royal buildings, leaving visitors in awe.
Changing of the Guard
A visit to Buckingham Palace would not be complete without witnessing the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony. This ceremony usually takes place at 11:00 AM daily, featuring guards in traditional red uniforms and tall hats marching in formation. The spectacle is both grand and solemn, lasting about 30 minutes and attracting numerous onlookers. It is advisable to check the specific timing of the ceremony in advance, as it may be adjusted due to weather or other reasons.
Palace Interior Tour
Parts of Buckingham Palace are open to the public during the summer, allowing visitors to tour the palace's interior and admire its luxurious decorations and historical artifacts. The rooms display famous artworks, royal family collections, and splendid interior designs, offering a deep insight into the history and life of the British royal family. During the tour, visitors can also see the royal private gardens, a tranquil oasis that contrasts sharply with the palace's grandeur.
Nearby Attractions
There are many other attractions worth visiting around Buckingham Palace, such as St. James's Park and Westminster Abbey. St. James's Park is one of London's oldest royal parks, featuring beautiful lakes, gardens, and various wildlife, making it perfect for walks and picnics. Westminster Abbey, where British monarchs have been crowned for centuries, is another must-see landmark with its magnificent Gothic architecture.

If you plan to visit London, Buckingham Palace is definitely an essential part of your itinerary!
London Travel Recommendation: The Charm of Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is one of London's most iconic landmarks, renowned for its unique Gothic architecture and spectacular double-decked drawbridge. As a symbol of London, Tower Bridge is not just a transportation link but also a tourist destination rich in history and culture. Here, I will introduce why Tower Bridge is a must-see attraction in your London trip.
Spectacular Architecture
Tower Bridge was officially opened in 1894 and spans 244 meters, consisting of two tall towers and a series of bridge decks. The design of the bridge was inspired by the Tower of London, and its beautiful blue and white exterior makes it instantly recognizable. Whether day or night, Tower Bridge exudes unparalleled charm, especially when illuminated, making it even more spectacular and enchanting.
Unique Experience on the Walkways
The upper walkways of Tower Bridge are one of the most popular parts for visitors. Here, you can walk along the transparent glass floor, overlooking the Thames River and the boats passing below, feeling a unique thrill. The walkways also feature rich historical information and exhibits, allowing you to learn about the construction process of the bridge and its significant role in London's history.
Panoramic Viewing Platforms in the Towers
If you want to overlook the entire city of London, the towers of Tower Bridge are the best viewing points. You can take an elevator to the viewing platforms in the towers, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of London's scenery, including the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, and other famous landmarks in the city. On clear days, the view is particularly spectacular, making it an ideal spot for photographing London's cityscape.
Rich Surrounding Attractions
Besides Tower Bridge itself, there are many attractions worth visiting nearby. Just a short walk from Tower Bridge is the famous Tower of London, a historic castle that has served as a royal palace, prison, and treasury. You can explore its long history and precious treasures here. Strolling along the Thames River, you can also find many restaurants and cafes to savor local delicacies and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.
Conclusion
Tower Bridge is not just a bridge but an important symbol of London's culture and history. Whether admiring its magnificent architecture, experiencing the unique walkways, or overlooking the beautiful scenery of London, Tower Bridge will add unforgettable memories to your London trip. If you plan to visit London, don't miss this stunning landmark!
London's Kensington Gardens: A Green Oasis in the City
London is one of the most iconic cities in the UK, and despite its bustling urban environment, it boasts numerous expansive green spaces where visitors can enjoy nature and tranquility. Kensington Gardens, one of London's most renowned Royal Parks, is beloved by both locals and tourists for its elegant landscaping and rich historical and cultural significance. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll or admiring English horticulture, Kensington Gardens offers an ideal escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
1. Royal Atmosphere and Rich History
Kensington Gardens was originally a hunting ground for Henry VIII and later became part of the royal gardens with the construction of Kensington Palace. As you enter the park, you can feel its unique royal ambiance. The park is home to Kensington Palace, a historic residence of the British royal family, parts of which are now open to the public as a museum, offering a glimpse into royal life.
2. Horticultural Beauty and Natural Harmony
Kensington Gardens is renowned for its elegant horticultural design, especially in spring and summer when the park is adorned with vibrant flowers. One of the highlights is the Italian Gardens, a 19th-century fountain garden designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria. The sculptures, fountains, and flowerbeds create a sense of elegance and tranquility.
Additionally, the Round Pond is an ideal spot for a stroll. You can see wild ducks and swans leisurely swimming on the lake, surrounded by lush greenery, making you feel as if you're in a paradise. It's also a popular spot for Londoners to fly kites, picnic, and walk their dogs, exuding a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
3. Albert Memorial and Cultural Landmarks
Another famous landmark in Kensington Gardens is the Albert Memorial. This monument, built by Queen Victoria in memory of her husband Prince Albert, is a symbol of the grandeur and glory of Victorian Britain. The memorial stands tall in the park, its golden exterior contrasting sharply with the surrounding greenery, making it an unmissable cultural sight.
4. Fusion of Art and Culture: Peter Pan Statue
Another beloved attraction in the park is the Peter Pan Statue. This statue, commemorating J.M. Barrie's famous fairy tale 'Peter Pan,' is located on the east side of the park. Surrounded by lush trees and flowers, the statue creates a fairy-tale atmosphere, making it a popular spot for families and children.
5. Ideal Place for Relaxation and Exercise
With its expansive green spaces and winding paths, Kensington Gardens is perfect for running, walking, or simply sitting on the grass and enjoying a sunbath. The park has numerous benches, making it a great spot for book lovers, meditation enthusiasts, and photographers to find a relaxing corner.

The park not only features rich historical relics and cultural landmarks but also offers vast lawns and gardens that foster a close connection with nature. London Film and TV Tour: Westminster Palace!
Westminster Palace is not only the home of the British Parliament and the House of Commons, but also a popular filming location. It has appeared in films such as "007", "Matchstick Men", "V for Vendetta", "The 39 Steps", and more.
► British Parliament House of Parliament
▪ The British Parliament House, also known as Westminster Palace, is one of the representative works of Gothic Revival architecture and was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. Although the palace today is basically rebuilt from the 19th century, it still retains many historical sites from its initial construction.
▪ When you come out of the subway station, you will see many people who can't move when they see Big Ben. In fact, the most beautiful viewing point is on the other side of the river, overlooking the Parliament House and Big Ben! Look at the clouds that are running around, it's too much like an oil painting!
▪ This is also a favorite of photographers. There are quite a few photographers with tripods, and some even stand there, admiring and taking pictures.
► Big Ben
▪ Big Ben, the Gothic Parliament House, and the red double-decker bus form London's unique landmark!
▪ Big Ben is now known as the Elizabeth Tower, a Gothic building, mainly used as a large clock for the bell tower of the British Parliament Hall. Every New Year, people will come here to celebrate, and the radio and TV will broadcast its bell to welcome the beginning of the New Year.
▪ Big Ben rings every hour, lasting more than 2 minutes, and the music is very nice!

Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera House: A Tale of Love and Regret 🎭✨
“Eugene Onegin” at the Royal Opera House in London is a dazzling fusion of passionate dance, haunting music, and timeless storytelling. Performed by the Royal Ballet and accompanied by the enchanting melodies of Tchaikovsky’s opera, this production brings Alexander Pushkin’s classic tale to life with breathtaking grace and emotion. 🌹🎶
The stage is set with elegance and grandeur, reflecting the opulence of 19th-century Russian society. 💃🕯️ From the grand ballrooms to the serene countryside, every scene is a visual feast, capturing the bittersweet tale of love, heartbreak, and regret. 💔🌿
The character of Onegin is danced with sharp precision and emotional turmoil, his movements reflecting pride and inner conflict. 🕴️💢 Meanwhile, Tatiana, the young, innocent heroine, pours her heart out through soft, flowing choreography. Her famous “letter scene” is a masterpiece, filled with longing and vulnerability as she confesses her love for Onegin. ✍️💌
Their duets are electrifying, capturing the tension between Tatiana’s hope and Onegin’s cold indifference. The final pas de deux, set in a grand ballroom, is an emotional rollercoaster, expressing the raw heartbreak and unspoken words between the two. 💃🕺❤️ It’s a moment that lingers long after the curtain falls.
Adding to this emotional experience is the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, which breathes life into Tchaikovsky’s soul stirring score. 🎻🎼 Their performance fills the theatre with sweeping melodies and powerful crescendos, amplifying every turn of the narrative. The delicate strings and dramatic orchestral swells mirror the characters’ turbulent emotions, drawing the audience deeper into the world of the ballet. 🌌🎶
Watching “Eugene Onegin” at the Royal Opera House is not just attending a ballet; it’s stepping into a world of passion, beauty, and poignant reflection on love lost and choices unmade. Each pirouette, each note, and every glance between the dancers create a truly unforgettable journey. 🌹✨

Mimi's Hotel Soho 🗺️
#boutiquehotels
I recently stayed at Mimi’s Hotel in Soho, London, and it was the perfect spot for exploring the heart of the city. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from lively Carnaby Street and a short walk to Oxford Circus. My room was small, as expected for a central London boutique hotel, but it was stylish and cozy, with a plush bed that made it feel like a mini sanctuary in the middle of the city. Prices start around £150 per night, which felt reasonable given the prime location.
The hotel bar downstairs has a chic, intimate vibe—ideal for a nightcap after a day of exploring Soho’s restaurants, theaters, and shops. Nearby, you can easily walk to Piccadilly Circus, the West End, and the British Museum. I spent one afternoon just wandering through the narrow streets, discovering hidden gems and cafés. If you want a trendy, central spot in London, Mimi’s is a fantastic choice! 🏙️🍷🎭

The Emory London | A suite in London is too luxurious.
| A suite in London is too luxurious. The Emory London | A suite in London is too luxurious. I recently stayed at the newly opened Emory Hotel in London. All rooms in this hotel are suites starting from 50 square meters, which is very luxurious in London. All suites in the hotel are also designed by different designers. I specifically asked the hotel for a suite designed by Andre Fu. My two favorite hotels are designed by him. As soon as I stepped into the room, I found that I was indeed his loyal fan. All the furniture design and furnishings, lighting and ornaments create an impeccable atmosphere. With the spacious and luxurious space, The Emory is the best hotel in London! The living room and bedroom of the room are semi-open, and both spaces have TVs. The bathrooms are also equipped with double basins + automatic toilets. The lighting design and marble are very textured. The room also has a cloakroom, and the space is still very large. I really can't believe this is in London, haha. The minibar snacks and drinks in the room are all free, and the hotel also gives a bottle of champagne or wine of your choice every day, which is very generous. Of course, this hotel also has some shortcomings. The entrance of the hotel lobby is very small and hidden in a small alley, but fortunately, you can enter from the gate of The Berkeley. These two hotels belong to The Maybourne group. The hotel only has one restaurant, ABCKitchen. This time I only had breakfast in the restaurant. The taste is good and exquisite, but there are not many choices and only white people's meals. However, breakfast is free for all guests, so it is worth a try. The service of the hotel can be regarded as world-class. Everyone is very enthusiastic and talkative. It can be seen that every staff member still loves their work very much. There is no sense of death for workers. Housekeeping is also one of the most careful I have seen. They will help arrange the things in the suitcase neatly. The fruits in the room will be updated every day and they are all delicious. It's not like the local garbage fruit in the UK.
