New Arche Coffee

New Acre Coffee Westminster Though only two years in operation, New Acre Coffee has already made its mark within the historic Westminster Chapel. Established by the church, which dates back to 1840, the café's name is a hopeful nod to the area's past, when Charles Dickens dubbed it 'The Devil's Acre' due to widespread poverty and hardship. Today, New Acre stands as a warm, inviting space with humbly elegant wooden furniture and light botanical touches, evoking a sense of a colonial haven in the heart of London. The café sources its beans from Old Spike Roastery, known for their mission-driven approach to roasting. Their house blend boasts a subtle toffee tone, offering a pleasant hint of sweetness that pairs well with their coffee offerings. Inside, you'll find communal tables perfect for work, cozy sofas backed by church windows, and individual seating ideal for a quiet moment. The friendly staff add to the warm atmosphere, creating a welcoming break from nearby landmarks like Victoria Station and Parliament House. I tried a latte, which, while passable, leaned too frothy and lacked a pronounced speciality coffee character. However, the standout surprise was the quality of their pastries-unexpectedly delicious and worth trying. New Acre Coffee doesn't run a specific charity mission, but being part of the church's broader community gives it a sense of deeper purpose. For a café owned and managed by the church, New Acre sets a high standard for service and comfort, making it an inviting stop for those in the area.#travel
