#summerdestinations During my summer vacation in Crete, I hiked Pefki Gorge, and it was an exhilarating experience. Located near the village of Pefki, about 40 km from Rethymno, the gorge is free to visit and offers a refreshing nature escape. The 5 km hike through Pefki Gorge is fairly easy, winding through a landscape of tall pines and rugged rocks. The path follows a small stream, and there are plenty of shaded spots to rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The highlight is a lovely natural pool perfect for a quick dip. After the hike, I explored the nearby village of Pefki, where I enjoyed a traditional meal at a local taverna. If you have more time, consider visiting the scenic beaches of Bali, which are just a short drive away.
