Kamikochi offers access to the heart of the Northern Japan Alps, which have been shaped in part by glacial activity. Kamikochi is famous for its valley, with its lush forests, offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including the volcanic Mt. Yakedake. The Hotaka mountain range dominates the area, and at 3,190 meters, Mt. Oku Hotaka is the highest peak in the Northern Japan Alps. In the fall season, it is sometimes crowded with the visitors.
