Lumbini Pagoda

It is actually a buddha shrine and a park. The shrine only open in certain hours. Make sure about it first if you interested to visit the shrine, because when I went there, it was closed so I only explored the park. The park is perfect if you want to experience zen-like atmosphere. It was not a huge park, and only took max 30 mins to explore. There were few facilities like souvenir shop etc, but it was closed. Was a bit long trip to got here but the view made no regret. The temple's design made you feel like you're somewhere in Thailand or Myanmar. Idk maybe the same kind of temple/religion. The view behind is not bad at all, there are stairs made of stone to go down the park. This place is not too large, you could go surround all the corner in 40 mins. #urbanexplorer #happylaborday #maydaytrip #givethanks

Just like most of the natural hot springs in Indonesia, this one is the result of volcanic activity. The main difference of this hot spring with others is the beauty of the crater are. The view here is somewhat otherworldly, making Sipoholon a really great place to visit. The whole area is located to the southeast of Toba. In fact, it is only a few kilometers away from the shore of the lake. The hot spring here produces really water. The temperature can reach up to 70 degrees Celcius. In some parts, people even bring eggs to boil here. They just put the eggs in the hottest water, wait for several minutes and your boiled egg is ready. People, of course, come to this place to enjoy the view and take a warm, relaxing bath. You definitely need to find the best place to enjoy the perfect temperature. The main selling point of this hot spring, apart from the actual hot water, is the beauty of the whole area. Mounds of colorful layers with bluish ponds make Sipoholon Hot Spring a very instagramable. In fact, many come to this hot spring for the picture and panorama. The colorful nature of this hot spring even earns it a reputation as a Pamukkale of Sumatra. #summervacation#hikingtrails#urbanexplorer

Samosir Villa Resort

Samosir Villa Resort distinguishes itself with its two swimming pools and direct access to Lake Toba. You will only be able to reach the hotel by boat as it is located on Samosir Island, right in the middle of the lake. Don’t expect anything fancy here except for the gorgeous lake views. The pool area provides a panoramic view of sunrise over Lake Toba and from the restaurant terrace, alluring plants, birds, mountains and lake grace your vision as you savour breakfast. The Suite Room with terrific lake views does not disappoint either! The hotel feels blissfully tranquil and secluded though it is relatively near other accommodations and numerous small restaurants. You’ll love chilling in your spacious room and relaxing on the balcony, where you can sit all day long to relish on even better panoramic views. Breakfast buffet is served every morning with a reasonable range of items, though most are local-style dishes. Depending on the season and weather, it can get chilly at the restaurant terrace so we recommend you to carry a light jacket at breakfast time. #summervacation#hotelstay#urbanexplorer

With its lime green exterior, Debang Resort goes almost unnoticed amidst hills and lake. Basic, yet comfortable, this resort’s most luxurious appeal is its infinity pool that overlooks the majestic Lake Toba with hills and volcanoes sitting afar. The paradisiacal location is a feast for your every senses! The stay is suitable for people looking for tranquility and peace as the area wins it at quietude. Families with kids and elders will find respite at the resort as they offer 3 types of rooms that include breakfast as well, though not much options when it comes to food. If you are here for more than just the good views, you can also opt for their traditional village tour or trekking packages to Debang Hill while other iconic attractions are around 1-hour drive away. #summervacation#hotelstay#urbanexplorer

Inna Parapat Hotel & Resort. Looking for an Instagrammable stay? Inna Parapat is that European-inspired hotel with direct access to Lake Toba. Even if you are not a morning person (like some of us), you won’t regret waking up early for that quiet morning swim in the infinity pool right above the lake! Though it does not necessarily master luxury appeal, the hotel with well-manicured gardens is comfortable and ideal if you are planning to spend most of your time outdoors by the lake. In the evenings, take a romantic stroll along the expansive stretch of the white sandy shore, lined with paddle boats that you can enjoy as well. Don’t need to worry about food – you’ll find a few eateries, restaurants and shops within walking distance too! 😉 On clear weathers, you’ll be left in awe of the lake’s breathtaking beauty and grandeur; and you get to swim in the clear shallow waters right in front of your hotel! #summervacation#hotelstay#urbanexplorer

Samosir Cottage Come in for a potpourri of traditional Batak heritage, modern design and local hospitality! A few of my colleagues visited and Samosir Cottages seems to be one of the few hotels that has managed to introduce contemporary architecture by sustaining the aesthetics of traditional Bataknese culture. With an almost 4-star service, the hotel aims at ensuring that guests enjoy a relaxing and memorable experience – they provide airy rooms, modern amenities and try their best when it comes to customer service. You can choose from 6 different room types (and you can add an extra bed if required). In fact, the hotel is truly loved by families as the staff is flexible and there are lots of outdoor activities to keep the kids busy while parents enjoy a tranquil romantic time by the lake. My team thoroughly enjoyed the banana boat activity – the lake was warm and they were provided with life jackets too. If you are lucky enough to get the corner suite, you don’t only get to enjoy views of the pool but also spectacular endless vistas of the jaw-dropping Lake Toba! #summervacation#hotelstay#urbanexplorer
