🏝This botanical garden is a national 5A scenic spot, which was established by Chinese botanist Cai Xitao in 1959. It is the largest botanical garden in China (covering an area of 1,125 hectares, with a primary tropical rainforest of about 250 square kilometers), with the richest collection of species and the most specialized gardens.
🏝The botanical garden is divided into the west and east areas. The east area is a rainforest, and the west area is a park. It is recommended to visit the west area, and the east area is mainly for hiking. It is also recommended to buy a sightseeing car ticket for the west area, because there is a long way from the gate to the scenic spot.
🏝The west area is a park composed of various blocks, which is the essence. The suitable punch card Victoria Pool is also here. If you have less time, you can only walk in the west area
🏝Standing on the floating bridge in the pool to take pictures, you can be in the middle of Victoria, and the background of palm trees in the distance is very open
🏝After watching the water lily pond, you can walk along the road and see a large area of palm trees, which are very tall, and you can run in the woods for 1s to the tropical rainforest, which is very out of the picture

You can take pictures in the flower forest. There is also a small dirt slope with a phoenix tree planted on it. It is beautiful to take pictures of the back and front here. Xishuangbanna 6D5N Photo Guide.
For those who love taking photos, a trip is not complete without taking a ton of photos! So, this time in Xishuangbanna, I chose where to stay and eat based on where I could take the best photos. After experiencing it myself, I want to share some outfit and photo spot ideas with my sisters who are planning to visit Xishuangbanna!!
Photos 2-4: Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences. I would say this is the most worthwhile attraction of this trip to Xishuangbanna.
Photos 5-7: Manting Park and Zongfo Temple (Zongfo Temple is right next to the exit of Manting Park, but you can't wear short skirts or sleeveless tops in Zongfo Temple. You might not be able to enter if you're wearing rented Dai costumes, so you need to bring another set of clothes or a jacket)
Photos 8-10: Siva Oasis Resort, Egyptian design style.
Photos 11-12: Cloud Star Hotel, the selling point is its rooftop pool. It's perfect for taking photos during the blue hour, and you'll feel like you're in Kuala Lumpur in a second.
Photo 13: Ben's House, it has a bit of a Thai vibe.
Photo 14: Chunsanxi Shangbanshan Hotel, the green pool on the hillside will make you feel like you're in the Maldives in a second.
Photos 15-16: Xia Wang Southeast Asian Restaurant
Photo 17: Thaibanna Select Designer Thai Restaurant (same restaurant where Zhao Lusi took photos)
Photo 18: Puzuo Rainforest Thai Restaurant (I don't really recommend this one, the food is not good, and there's only one small corner where you can take photos of the big golden pagoda)
Photo 19: Lai Zhen Xiaoyuan, Starlight Night Market Branch, a restaurant I stumbled upon. The food was surprisingly good and the second-floor terrace is perfect for taking photos. It has a strong vacation vibe.
Tropical Botanical Garden · Arboretum - A delicate kingdom of trees.
After leaving the Flower Garden, walk up the hill along the scenic path and you will arrive at the Arboretum. This is a garden mainly composed of various trees. Although it looks primitive, it is all artificially built and is quite delicate. There are various types of tropical trees distributed here, from towering Blumeodendron to various forms of palm trees, which are dazzling and bring a completely different viewing experience from the Flower Garden.
Tropical Botanical Garden·Flower Garden - Ocean of Flowers.
Upon entering the west area of the Tropical Botanical Garden, you will be greeted by the garden lake and the Flower Garden built around the lake. This is a comprehensive exhibition garden that showcases a variety of tropical flowers. It is an ocean of tropical flowers and a gorgeous prelude to the plant movement of the botanical garden.
The Flower Garden is further divided into many small themed gardens, displaying various characteristic flowers, such as crape myrtle, paper fan, and golden phoenix flowers. More flowers are distributed under the trees, on the lawn, by the lake, and by the stream. Walking among them, you can not only appreciate the sea of flowers, but also experience the fun of finding flowers in the forest. With the appropriate popular science information, you can become a semi-tropical flower expert after a round.
Jinghong Tropical Botanical Garden West Zone - The pinnacle of horticulture.
The first place we visited was the west zone of the Tropical Botanical Garden. This part is located on a peninsula. The peninsula has undulating mountains and crisscrossing rivers. It is divided into many themed garden areas. Each garden area is a carefully crafted garden. The beauty of the theme plants is displayed in the most appropriate way. It can be said that each small garden is a boutique, and the entire west zone composed of these small gardens can be called the pinnacle of human horticulture.
Overall, the west zone is divided into two halves, east and west, with high terrain in the east and low in the west. The eastern half is dominated by water bodies, and the western half is dominated by mountains. The water bodies in the eastern half are diverted from the Nanban River to form beautiful lakes in the garden. The lakes are dotted with large and small gardens. The north side is a garden area dominated by various flowers, extending from the lake to the mountains. The mountains are dominated by tall trees with the core of the dragon brain incense family. Under the giant trees, there are small and beautiful miniature gardens such as shade plants and rare plants.
The entire west zone has a very reasonable tour route, composed of three small loops into a large loop. Friends with poor physical strength or targeted can choose their favorite garden area to take a scenic bus to visit by point, and friends with good physical strength can visit one by one along the large loop. Without walking the same route, you can visit each garden area completely. The end point is the scenic bus station to the east zone. It can be said that it is a very friendly route layout for hiking enthusiasts.
I chose the route to visit one by one along the big loop. I wandered in the west zone for 5 hours without rushing. I visited from 9 am to 2 pm. I experienced a wonderful and climactic plant viewing feast. I have visited many botanical gardens and parks over the years. But only this one can do such a good job of grand scale and wonderful details, and combine them so perfectly.
What's more, as a botanical garden directly under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Tropical Botanical Garden is not only for sightseeing, but also for scientific research tasks. Therefore, the garden's introduction to various plants is very detailed and scientific. People who like to study plants can really learn countless useful knowledge here. It is a real botanical palace.
Next, I will introduce some beautiful garden areas that impressed me very much and share them with you.
Jinghong · Chinese Academy of Sciences Tropical Botanical Garden - A beautiful plant kingdom.
On the second day in Jinghong, our main focus was the Chinese Academy of Sciences Tropical Botanical Garden in the southwest. In fact, this was one of the most anticipated attractions on my Yunnan trip, and I even arranged a whole day for it. It turned out to be completely worth it, and I firmly believe that the Tropical Botanical Garden is a must-see for any visitor to Xishuangbanna.
Early in the morning, we drove to the Botanical Garden and were among the first to enter the park when it opened at 9:00 am. Although I had done some research beforehand, the sheer size and beauty of the garden still exceeded our expectations. We spent a full 8 hours wandering around the Botanical Garden until 5:00 pm, feeling like we were on a magical plant journey.
The Botanical Garden covers a vast area, stretching 7 kilometers east to west and 2 kilometers north to south, with the widest point exceeding 3 kilometers. It is surrounded by the Nanban River, a tributary of the Lancang River. The Botanical Garden is divided into two sections, east and west. The west section is the landscaped botanical garden and the headquarters of the Botanical Garden. It is located on a peninsula formed by the Nanban River, measuring 2 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. This is the essence of the Botanical Garden, and most visitors only visit this section. It is divided into dozens of exquisite botanical gardens, showcasing various types of tropical plants. The east section is a pristine tropical rainforest, full of wild charm, as if walking deep into the dense forest. Here, the population is sparse, allowing you to fully experience the beauty of the unmodified primeval forest.
The west section is densely landscaped and can be visited on foot. It has relatively complete service facilities and is the main tourist area. The east section is vast, with attractions scattered around. Visitors need to take a sightseeing bus to get between attractions. The Tropical Botanical Garden is one of the few places I have visited where a sightseeing bus is necessary.
Considering physical strength, we explored the west section together in the morning. In the afternoon, I went to the east section by myself, while my parents continued to explore the west section at a leisurely pace. After all, the primeval forest in the east section is more physically demanding and has an adventurous element.
I think even 8 hours of sightseeing is not enough. It only allows for a quick overview of each area of the Botanical Garden. If you really want to appreciate each plant carefully, I'm afraid even a week wouldn't be enough. Next, I will introduce this beautiful tropical plant kingdom in detail with a long article.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden.
The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 1959 by Chinese botanist Cai Xitao. It is located in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. The botanical garden covers an area of about 1,125 hectares and has 38 specialized plant areas. It preserves a primary tropical rainforest with an area of about 250 square kilometers. The tropical rainforest wonders include the "board root phenomenon", "old stem flowering", "strangulation phenomenon", "single tree forest" and "air garden" in the tropical rainforest, presenting a mysterious and beautiful rainforest world to us tourists.
The flowers and plants in the botanical garden will show different styles in different seasons, such as the egg flowers and dragon boat flowers blooming in midsummer, which make people marvel at the magic of nature.
Mengyuan Wonderland in Xishuangbanna | Mengyuan, your natural oxygen bar.
Mengyuan Wonderland is located in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, about 60 kilometers from the city. There are dense primeval forests, gurgling streams, and strange limestone caves. It is a secret place of nature, suitable for adventure and meditation.
To be honest, Mengyuan Wonderland is really a "fairyland". The air is full of negative oxygen ions. Walking on the forest path, it seems to have traveled to another world. My heart has been completely healed, and I feel that I have been purified by the forest.

1⃣ Forest Adventure:
There are many natural trails in the scenic area. I recommend everyone to take a jungle hike. I walked all the way, admiring the magnificent vegetation and wild animals and plants, as if I had entered a "jungle secret".
2⃣ Cave exploration:
The most magical place in Mengyuan Wonderland is cave exploration. There are strange stalactites in the cave, as if you are in an underground maze, highly recommended! However, remember to bring a flashlight, some places in the cave are very dark.
3⃣ Avoid pit reminders:
Although cave exploration is fun, remember to wear non-slip shoes. The cave is slippery, be careful, don't slip like me😅.
🍜 Food recommendation
There are no special restaurants in the scenic area, so it is recommended that you bring some snacks or dry food. However, not far from the scenic spot, I found a small Dai restaurant. Their home-made Dai-flavored grilled fish is super good, the fish is tender and fragrant, and it is simply irresistible. There is also bamboo rice, which is very authentic, fragrant, and definitely a delicacy that cannot be missed in Banna!
🏠 Accommodation recommendation
It is recommended that you live in Mengla Town, where there are many cost-effective hotels. I live in Mengla Xishuangbanna Garden Hotel. The environment is quiet and the service is particularly good. The room is clean and spacious, and you can overlook the distant green hills. The scenery in the morning is refreshing. The hotel's breakfast is also very rich, with local snacks, which adds a lot of satisfaction to my journey.

Self-driving from Jinghong City to Mengyuan Wonderland takes about 1 hour. The scenery along the way is beautiful, the navigation is very convenient, and the road conditions are good. After arriving at the scenic spot, there is a dedicated parking lot, which is very convenient for parking.
2⃣ Public transportation:
If you don’t drive by yourself, you can take a tourist bus or charter a car from Jinghong City to Mengyuan Wonderland. The journey is also about 1 hour. It is recommended to arrange the train number and time in advance.

💰 Tickets
The ticket price of Mengyuan Wonderland is about 55 yuan per person, which is quite cost-effective. In addition to the tickets, some cave exploration may require additional charges, and it is recommended to confirm in advance.
🍀 Tips
👟 Dress: The scenic area is mainly composed of primeval forests and caves. It is recommended to wear non-slip shoes and light sportswear. It is best to bring a jacket. The temperature difference between morning and evening in the mountains is large.
🧴 Sunscreen and mosquito repellent: There are many mosquitoes in the forest, remember to bring mosquito repellent and sunscreen, take protective measures to avoid being bitten or sunburned.

🎀 Conclusion
Mengyuan Wonderland is a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle and close to nature. 🎫Tickets are available on various travel apps.

✅Victoria amazonica Pond: You can take great photos without sitting on the Victoria amazonica! Stand on the bridge that extends into the Victoria amazonica pond. The photographer can take photos from a distance. The whole picture is full of Victoria amazonica, which is more shocking than sitting on the Victoria amazonica (CNY20/person for going up the bridge)

The botanical garden is very large. It is recommended to spend half a day to a day there.
Xishuangbanna~ Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden~ China's largest botanical garden.
One-day tour of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden (with nanny-level guide)||| The only scenic spot not to be missed in Xishuangbanna—China's largest botanical garden—Chinese Academy of Sciences Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden❗️
The entire garden covers an area of approximately 1,125 hectares, with a collection of over 13,000 living plants, 38 plant-specific areas, and a preserved primary tropical rainforest covering an area of approximately 250 square kilometers. It is the largest botanical garden in China, with the richest collection of species, the largest number of specialized gardens, and the largest number of plant species preserved outdoors and displayed to the public in the world.
The entire scenic area is divided into an East Tour Area and a West Tour Area. You can purchase tour bus tickets for each area separately, or a ticket for the entire area. The East Area is mainly a primary forest, while the West Area has forest lawns, flower seas, and hot air balloons. The entire garden is so large that it is estimated that you will not be able to see even a fifth of it on foot. It is recommended to purchase a ticket for the entire area tour bus, which can be arranged for a day's itinerary.
In the evening, we followed the tour guide to a restaurant for dinner, which was the only additional expense. It was not a compulsory group meal, but we ordered our own dishes. One meat and one vegetable cost RMB80, which was a large portion and filling, and the taste was okay. It can be seen that there has been some progress in tour groups now, with a significant reduction in the shopping and group meal activities that were often criticized in the past.
In the evening, the tour of the garden was divided into smaller groups of about ten people. Led by a garden guide, we walked around the dark garden, using flashlights to find insects and animals to explain. It can be seen that the children really liked this, as they could observe them up close and even touch them, which completely satisfied their curiosity and desire to explore.
Some of the things we saw on the road included: several spiders whose names I can't remember, millipedes, stick insects, slugs, snails, stink bugs, wolf spiders, golden ants... quite a lot.
As for fireflies, the guide also said that there are no swarms of them here, but you can see quite a few scattered ones. It is not suitable to have too high expectations.
Adult ticket + full area tour bus RMB180

There is a virgin rainforest in the southern province of China. High air temperature and high humidity contribute to lush vegetation. It is a green ocean consisting of 8 levels of plants. Tall trees, "climbing parasites", shrubs, flowers, grasses, moss, lichens, etc. grow on one square meter.
Rare species of elephants, leopards, parrots, monkeys, pythons live here. The Xishuangbanna Forest is called the "peacock country". Their stunning coloring and elegance attracts many tourists. For the local "dai" people, peacocks have become mascots. Among the dense bamboo forest, people build their houses like a peacock's unfolded tail.
Xishuangban is the genetic bank of many endangered plants.
The Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve Rainforest is located in 3 counties of Jinghong, Mengla, Menghai in southern Yunnan Province, it is the most untouched rainforest in high latitudes and mountainous areas of our country.
Xishuangbanna Primeval Forest Park offers unique natural landscapes of the primeval forest and charming ethnic customs. The park contains the best preserved rainforest valleys south of the tropic of cancer, a peacock breeding base, a monkey domestication base, a large field for representing ethnic customs, Aini village with an ethnic palisade, Jiulong Waterfall, Manshuanglong pagoda, hundreds of meters of granite relief, the legend of golden lake, barbecue area with ethnic flavor and so on. More than 50 scenic attractions highlighting the three main thematic characteristics of “virgin forests, wildlife and folk customs". Chinese National Geographic magazine named it one of the ten most beautiful forests in China.
The northern tropical region of Xishuangbanna is located on the edge of the northern part south of the tropic of cancer, belongs to the tropical monsoon climate, warm and sunny, humid and rainy all year round, it is the only oasis desert on the tropic of cancer on earth, it is the most complete, typical and largest ecosystem of tropical rain forests in China, as well as a scarce gene pool of rare plants and animals on earth, which today is known as a miracle of nature on earth. Five thousand species of tropical plants and animals in Xishuangbanna grow on an area of almost two square kilometers, which is breathtaking.

You must have never seen such a spectacle
The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden is truly a paradise for plant enthusiasts. The garden features different themed areas, each with its own highlights. The top recommendation is the Victoria water lily, with each leaf having a diameter of over one meter and a load-bearing capacity of up to hundreds of pounds. Imagine how stunning a pool of such leaves would be; many children take photos standing on the leaves. Various exotic flowers and plants can be seen everywhere in the garden, and the firecracker flower in the photos really looks like a string of red firecrackers. The predatory behavior of various carnivorous plants is truly creepy. It's educational to see the national flowers of different countries, which is quite eye-opening. The garden is very large and can be enjoyed for a whole day. It is recommended to take the electric shuttle within the garden, which can easily take you to each area, allowing you to bathe in the natural negative ion oxygen bar, which is truly refreshing!

Looking up at the sky tree
Going to Yunnan, the young man wants to go to Xishuangbanna, I want to go to Shangri-La. I think he will be satisfied and I will be happy too. I searched hard online and found the sky tree, the only tropical rainforest in China recognized by the world.
I chartered a car from Xishuangbanna to the Mengla 'Sky Tree' scenic area, a one-way trip of 140 kilometers. The comfortable and economical way is to take the high-speed train directly to Mengla, and then take a taxi to the sky tree.
It was drizzling on the day we entered the park, and there were very few people. The sky trees are straight and smooth, estimated to be 40-70 meters tall, almost piercing the sky. The sky tree in my imagination is like a baobab tree with jackfruits hanging on it... The canopy walkway is 36 meters above the ground. The canopy walkway is a passage like a small suspension bridge with ropes on both sides and wooden planks in the middle for one person to walk. I walked holding the ropes alternately with both hands. Because it was raining and there were few people, if there were many people, the shaking and screaming would echo through the forest. I never dared to take pictures with my phone downwards, fearing that I might drop it out of nervousness.
The scenic area has many huge trees, strange trees, beautiful and peculiar flowers. Along the way, I dreamed of encountering a herd of wild elephants. The road we walked on was said to have been passed by a herd of wild elephants a few days ago, who had gnawed on the farmers' corn.

Travel Guide
👀 In the Banyan Garden, you can see some special sights, such as a tree that looks like a small forest, and some tree roots that are particularly thick, even entwining other trees to form unique landscapes.
👀 The Giant Water Lily is a popular plant in the Shade Garden, but don't expect it to be a playground for children in winter. It mainly attracts people to take photos and check in as a popular spot.
👀 The Hundred Flowers Garden is close to the hot air balloon area and is a great place for photos, but the hot air balloon experience is not recommended, possibly due to weather or safety reasons.
👀 The Palm Garden has many palm trees that grow very tall, almost reaching the clouds, making it an excellent photo spot.
👀 The Garden of Exotic Flowers and Trees has many plants that are rarely seen, suitable for slow appreciation. This is also a place to eat and rest.
👀 Next to the Worry-Free Flower Tree is the Royal Lotus Hotel. It is said that the last Dai king, Dao Shixun, personally planted this tree, so there is also a historical story here.
👀 The Beleaf Palm is a very special plant that blooms only once in its lifetime and is very important to Dai culture, symbolizing the "Beleaf Culture".
👀 On the signboards, blue represents ordinary plants, while red indicates endangered plants that need special protection.
