The Milan Cathedral, is the most iconic landmark in Milan, is also the second largest in Europe, third largest in the world. The construction of Milan Duomo started in the late 1300s and it took almost 600 years to complete what became a behemoth cathedral. The roof is open to tourists (for a fee), which allows many a close-up view of some spectacular sculpture that would otherwise be unappreciated. The roof of the cathedral is renowned for the forest of openwork pinnacles and spires, set upon delicate flying buttresses. if you ask me what’s a must-see in Milan if you have time for only one landmark, this has to be walking on Milan Duomo rooftop and visit the imposing Cathedral. #decembertravel
