The Grand Old Lady

The Grand Old Lady is not a literal old lady, is located on Canada Hill in Miri. It is Miri's first drilled oil well which took place in the year of 1910 by Shell Company. The Grand Old Lady is one of Miri's many main places of interest and also act as an important monument in the eyes of the local's and definitely, the world's. This famous landmark has a height of 30 meters and marked the beginning of modernization of Miri city as back in the years before the discovery of The Grand Old Lady, Miri is just an undeveloped fishing village. There is a museum named the Petroleum Museum situated just next to The Grand Old Lady. Recently they installed a new Hollywood style sign board next to the museum that can be seen directly from the city below. This board resembles the one that is in Hollywood.
