Wat Phia Wat

#bucketlistreboot Muang Khoun 35 kilometers southeast of Phonsavan, was once the royal seat of the minor kingdom of Muang Phuan in the 14th century and was the provincial capital during French colonialism. This rural centre of faded glory was bomb heavily at 1960s and bears testimony to centuries of aggression. Discover Muang Khoun's sitting giant Buddha as well of some old pagodas that remain in ruins. The foundation and columns of Wat Phia Wat are still standing as is the 30 meter stupa constructed in the Lan Xang/Lanna period
