After touring most of Guangdong, the most memorable place for me is the Chaoshan area, which is fun, delicious, and full of distinctive local culture. If you are traveling to Chaoshan during the Spring Festival, bookmark this article: 🎐 How to Enjoy Chaoshan The Chaoshan region includes the cities of Chaozhou, Shantou, and Jieyang. The three cities share the same origin and have activities like Yingge Dance and You Shen during the Spring Festival. I recently visited Shantou➕Chaozhou, and you can refer to my 3 days and 2 nights itinerary: 🟡 day1 Shantou Shantou has good transportation and urban construction, suitable for city walk🚶 1️⃣ Little Park A landmark of Shantou, the European architecture is photogenic and beautiful, with must-visit spots like Xinxue School, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Pavilion, and Shantou Hotel. 2️⃣ Guiyuan One of the most beautiful old buildings in Shantou, where Premier Zhou once worked, with a gorgeous pink exterior. 3️⃣ Chaoshan Railway Old Site The first commercial railway in Chinese history, leaving behind old buildings and damaged brick walls. 4️⃣ Square Ferry For just 2 yuan, you can enjoy the joy of crossing the river by ferry🚢, with a ferry every 20 minutes. 5️⃣ Niang Island The road leading to the sea, where you can take photos of ships floating in the sky with a telephoto lens. 🟡 day2 Nan'ao Island Nan'ao Island belongs to Shantou, with very clear waters and beautiful sea views on sunny days🌊 How to get to the island: Taking a taxi or driving yourself requires a 96 yuan bridge toll; public transportation is available by taking bus 105 directly to Nan'ao Island, with a fare of 12 yuan. My island tour route: '📍Changshanwei Lighthouse→Qian'ao Bay Lighthouse→Zhannan Pavilion→Sanchuang Cliff Lighthouse→Qing'ao Bay→Rainbow Sea' 🟡 day3 Chaozhou Chaozhou is more quaint compared to Shantou, a small city full of life that can be explored in one day. 1️⃣ Guangji Bridge One of China's four ancient bridges, with a stunning free light show every night at 8 o'clock. 2️⃣ Qinglong Ancient Temple The roof deities and Qinglong🐉 of Qinglong Ancient Temple are exquisitely beautiful, showcasing the unique Chaoshan inlaid porcelain technique. 3️⃣ Kaiyuan Temple A gorgeous ancient temple from the Tang Dynasty, known as the 'First Ancient Monastery of Eastern Guangdong'. 4️⃣ Ji Lue Huang Ancestral Hall Claimed to be the number one wood carving in Chaozhou, the gold-painted wood carvings on the beams are intricate and lively. 5️⃣ Zhenhai Tower Once the government office of Chaozhou Prefecture, the night view when lit up is absolutely stunning🌉 6️⃣ Paifang Street The central street of Chaozhou ancient city, with 22 archways lighting up at night, making the night scene even more beautiful. 🍝 Chaoshan Cuisine Recommendations A must-try food list when visiting Chaoshan: Pot porridge, raw pickles, rice noodle rolls, marinated goose, fan sha, beef hot pot, Chaozhou raw fish, oyster pancakes, fermented tofu chicken wings😋 If you have more time, you can also visit Jieyang.
