Nanling County Museum

Nanling has a long history, belonging to Yangzhou during the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, and was the land of Wu, Yue, and Chu during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. It was part of Zhang County during the Qin dynasty. Nanling County was established in the sixth year of the Liang Wudi's reign (525 AD), with a prominent strategic position, valued throughout the dynasties. Throughout the long historical process, our ancestors blazed trails and created a brilliant culture, leaving behind a rich cultural heritage. The Nanling County Museum has a building area of 3,600 square meters, including an exhibition hall area of 1,200 square meters. The museum currently holds 1,576 cultural relics and over 1,000 relic specimens. Among them, there are 200 precious cultural relics, including 6 first-class relics. Among the first-class precious cultural relics, the bronze 'dragon-eared zun' is a perfect example of the combination of historical, scientific, and artistic value, and is rightfully the 'Treasure of Nanling County'. Currently, two exhibition halls are open to the public: The first exhibition hall mainly displays, in the form of pictures, the achievements of Nanling County's third national survey of immovable cultural relics and the archaeological accomplishments of the past decade. The second exhibition hall mainly displays actual cultural relics, divided into three sections: settlement sites, ancient bronze smelting sites, and earthen mound tomb sites. It exhibits over 150 pieces (sets) of exquisite cultural relics unearthed and handed down from the museum's collection, including stone tools, bronzes, ceramics, miscellaneous items, and calligraphy and paintings, spanning from the Neolithic to the Republic of China period, representing the precious marks left by our ancestors on this land, each with its own distinctive characteristics and representativeness.
