Oh deer! Thousands of deer at Nara Park 🦌

Nara park is world famous for the Nara deer that roam around the grounds, around 1500 at the last count. These deer have been protected for at least 1000 years and have become an inseparable part of the city, you will see there image everywhere. You can reach the park from Nara station on bus routes, about 4 stops from the station, taxis or direct on trains from Osaka, Kobe & Kyoto. The deer are very docile and friendly, If you are calm and considerate you can get close enough for photos and to touch them. The local shops sell food tor about $1.5 for you to feed them. But be careful, the deers can get very excited about the food and ground around you very quickly! It’s easier to find one or two deers on their own and feed them, feeding the large crowds can become very overwhelming!
