Central Park, New York

Central Park, New York, is located in the city center and covers a very large area. The park was first opened in 1857, with an area of 778 acres (315 hectares). In 1858, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux won the design competition to expand the park with their 'Greensward Plan.' Construction began the same year, and parts of the park were opened to the public the following year. During the Civil War, the park was expanded northward and was completed in 1873. It now covers 843 acres (341 hectares), approximately 4 kilometers long and 0.8 kilometers wide. In the park, you can picnic, cycle, run, sit idly, and walk your dog.
