Who says north island of New Zealand is boring? You should head to Wellington where part of lord of the rings was being filmed! There is a Weta Cave where it show cases many lord of the ring sculptures, props and replicas from the film and even costumes from lord of the rings. And yes, as mentioned it says Weta Cave where inside of this gift shop looks like it's build inside of a Cave. And of course the gift shop with all these props is free to enter but there is a guided tour also for fans who wish to get the full experience at the Weta Workshop! Of course there are other films like ghost shell, avatar, gorilla kong and other block busters movies. Parking spaces here are also free.
