Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, as well as a nightclub district. It is frequented by tourists and locals alike and is especially popular for picnickers during the summer months. You can reach Montmartre easily by the Paris metro.
