Ancient military stronghold, the foremost fortress under heaven

Shiniu Fortress, located in Shiniu Fortress Town, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, at the border of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi, stands at an altitude of 523 meters and covers an area of more than 10 square kilometers. It is an ancient military stronghold composed of bizarre rocks, peculiar peaks, and stone caves, forming a world of Danxia stones. The craftsmanship is so exquisite that it creates a myriad of fascinating forms, offering an incomparably beautiful sight. There are numerous scenic spots within the fortress, which can be summarized as 'One ox, two turtles, three perilous passes; four bridges, five fortresses, six thread-like skies; seven peculiar stones, eight temples, and endless views from a hundred and eight cliffs.' The attractions are known for their remarkable and rare features, especially the well-preserved ancient city wall that stretches over 2000 meters, earning it the reputation of 'the foremost fortress under heaven.'
