|The Site of the "Jia Tu Mie Guo" Battle. Maodu was originally called Maotou Ferry, then renamed Shajian Ferry, and finally Maodu. It has been known as the "Iron Wharf" since the Shang Dynasty, and has been a ferry since then. It developed rapidly after the Zhou Dynasty. According to records, Maodu was already a ferry during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, and was a strategic location for military operations. In 655 BC, Duke Xian of Jin borrowed the road from Yu to attack and destroy the State of Guo, crossing the river at Maodu. In 627 BC, Duke Mu of Qin attacked Zheng, and the State of Jin sent surprise troops across the river at Maodu, defeating the Qin army at Xiaoshan. Pinglu County is located at the southernmost tip of Shanxi Province. It is located in the "Golden Triangle" of the Yellow River at the junction of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Henan provinces, and is an important gateway from Shanxi to the Central Plains.
