Ruins of the old French Fort Carnot

Fort Carnot is a massive fort in Huay Xai that was constructed during the French colonial period. It is situated on a gorgeous hillside next to the Governor of Bokeo's main office, and there are two massive towers on display here, which represent the main component of the fort that has survived. The fort had fallen into disrepair and had to close in recent years, but it has since reopened and been cleaned up, making it a worthwhile stop on a tour of Huay Xai. Hiking to this awemazing ruins was just superb.
