Qingdao Branch of China Sculpture Institute

The Qingdao Branch of China Sculpture Institute was established on January 12, 2011, co-founded by the Qingdao Municipal Government and the China Sculpture Institute. The branch is headed by Professor Wu Weishan, the president of the China Sculpture Institute, who also serves as the director of the branch. The deputy director is Du Lihua, the vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Shandong Provincial Sculptors Association. Making full use of the platform of the China Sculpture Institute as a national-level research institution for sculpture art, the Qingdao Branch focuses on the development of contemporary Chinese sculpture art, emphasizes the discovery and cultivation of young artists, integrates high-end artistic resources both internationally and domestically, and serves as a research base for high-end academic and artistic practice, an exchange base for high-end art talents, a display base for high-level artistic works, and a high-standard base for international cultural exchanges. It strives to achieve a corresponding position in the history of the development of Chinese sculpture art. The Qingdao Branch proactively adapts to the needs of cultural construction in Qingdao, striving to better serve the economic, cultural, and social development of Qingdao, contribute to the prosperity of Qingdao's cultural affairs and cultural industries, and help build Qingdao into an international, innovative city.
