The only existing offshore pearl farm and the only mountain fortress in the UAE are all located in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah, also known as Ras Al Haymah or Ras el-Khaimah, is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. It is situated at the northernmost point of the UAE. Its name means 'The Top of the Tent' or 'The Cape of the Small Hut'. Not only does it have seas and deserts, but it also boasts mountains, which are truly beautiful! It is the only emirate in the UAE that has four historical sites—Julfar, Shimal, Al Jazeera Al Hamra, and Dhayah—listed on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Among them, Dhayah Fort is the most visited archaeological site in Ras Al Khaimah and a prime example of heritage conservation in the emirate. Built in the 19th century, it is the only remaining hilltop fortress in the UAE, offering a picturesque venue with a dreamlike 360-degree view under the enchanting sunset! Passing through lush palm groves and dramatic mountain ranges that stretch all the way to the sea, this mountain range was formed from sedimentary rocks that originated from an ancient seabed during the Late Cambrian to Early Jurassic period. Subjected to high pressure and temperature during tectonic movements, these rocks metamorphosed and were eventually formed by the folding and uplifting of the earth's crust due to the collision between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates. This makes it an ideal place for geologists and nature enthusiasts to study the history of the Earth and the dynamic processes of our planet. The island owner's itinerary includes an afternoon boat trip to the Suwaidi Pearls Farm in Ras Al Khaimah to visit and learn about the pearl farming process. This is the only existing pearl farm in the UAE, and it is well known that before the discovery of oil, the people here lived by pearl diving, cultivating date palms, and herding camels. Here, one can experience the collision of traditional Arab pearl diving and modern pearl farming.
