Iceland | Reykjavik Recommended Delicacies

Ever since I had that marvelous lamb dish on my first day in Iceland, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It made me determined to come back for another taste after completing my trip around the island. I'm talking about Reykjavík Kitchen located in the capital, Reykjavik. First, let me introduce the fish dishes. As a starter, the smoked salmon is not too overpowering and, paired with the creamy homemade mascarpone cheese, it offers a richer texture. You can also choose to pair it with melon for a refreshing taste. The seafood soup here perfectly demonstrates what real ingredients are all about. The tender cod takes up most of the bowl, and the rich soup has a hint of spice, warming and appetizing. Next is the main attraction that keeps me coming back - the lamb. The lamb eye is cooked with the skin on, and the cooking is perfectly controlled. The skin is crispy and aromatic, while the meat retains a pink hue, tender and juicy. The layer of semi-melted fat in the middle exudes a rich and savory aroma without any of the unpleasant mutton smell. For dessert, I tried both the crème brûlée and the homemade chocolate cake. The brûlée is covered with plenty of pistachios, but I found the toffee in the middle a bit too sweet for my taste. In contrast, the chocolate cake won my heart. The rich chocolate flavor and the moist, dense texture of the cake, simply paired with a scoop of ice cream and nuts, was very satisfying.
