La Merce

#bucketlistreboot La Merce is the annual festival of Barcelona City. The festival which was first officially held in 1902, sent summer off with a bang and welcome in the cool fall months. The parade of the giants is a very popular event for the whole family. Huge giants with images of the King, Queen and nobles march through the streets of Barcelona. These huge figures rise above the crowd and spin around so that the audience can see them in their glory. The parade is usually accompanied by groups that play music and drums as the giants pass by Passeig de Gracia. If you are here in this period, usually at the end of September, you can come to enjoy this festival season.
