Xidao is a small island 8 nautical miles west of Sanya city. There is an old fishing village on the island that is over 500 years old, where simple and kind villagers have lived by fishing for generations. Visitors need to buy tickets to get on the island. After buying the tickets, you can directly enter the scenic area and queue up to take a boat to the island. When we went, we took a large boat, and we could only sit in the cabin. The waves were quite big, and the boat swayed a lot, causing some seasickness. Those who get seasick should be prepared in advance. After getting off the boat, walk straight to the visitor center. On the left side is the public beach, where you can book sea activities packages online or buy them on-site at the visitor center. Xidao, as an island still under development, is praised as a rare diving paradise in Sanya due to its clear waters and rich underwater resources. Walking along the artistic coastal road, you can reach the fishing village, a quaint place with over 500 years of history. The ancient alleys, graffiti on the walls, century-old coral houses, unique cultural and creative halls, and bustling village markets are full of local charm. 🌊 'Recommended Attractions' ❶ Xidao Fishing Village The most distinctive feature of the fishing village is the ancient old street area deep in the village. The old houses made of coral, weathered by hundreds of years, are still visible today, which is quite rare. ❷ Cultural and Creative Hall The Xidao Cultural and Creative Hall not only has sand paintings created by artists but also a small art exhibition. The wooden boat in the backyard exudes a strong island vibe. If you have time, you might as well come here and savor it. ❸ Fishing Village Market The fishing village market is probably the only large procurement market on the island. The variety of ingredients traded is very rich. If you want to dine on the island, you can choose seafood here and have it processed by the homestay. ❹ Sea Library By the small pier on Xidao, there are three small fishing boats painted clean white and connected horizontally. Boat No. 1 is a bookstore, open to visitors and readers from Monday to Friday; Boat No. 2 is a cultural activity space, used for children's crafts, picture book reading, and movie screenings on weekends; Boat No. 3 is a homestay with several bunk beds, providing a resting place for backpackers. The boat closest to the shore has four words embedded on it—Sea Library. This beautiful slogan—'Read whichever page the wind blows to'—fills this giant 'library' with artistic sentiment. Besides the clear and bustling coastline, Niuwang Ridge on the other side of Xidao is also worth visiting. It requires a separate ticket. It extends to the seaside boardwalk of half the island and is considered an affiliated small island of Xidao, connected to the main island by an artificial stone road. Local residents say it is a great place to watch the sunset. 🚢 Ferry Round Trip 🔹 You can take a ferry to Xidao from Xiaoqi Port in Sanya. Adult tickets are 98r, children's tickets are 49r, and children under 1.2m are free. 🔹 Ferry times are from 8:00 to 18:00.
