Destructive Remnants of Merapi Volcano 🌋

Visiting Museum Omahku Memoriku at Mount Merapi provided me with a peek into the lives of locals during the 2010 Merapi Volcanic Eruption. It revealed the true destructive nature and devastating impact that Mt Merapi can cause when it erupts. The museum is hosted in a typical Javanese house that had been damaged by the 2010 eruption. Immediately, you can see that only about 60% of the house survived the devastation. The exhibits in the museum blended personal artifacts, photographs, and personal narratives, painting a vivid picture of both the tragedy of those living in the shadow of Mount Merapi. I found the half melted clock that stopped at 12:30,m and fused with volcanic ash, the most iconic.
