Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul | A 600-year-old traditional Korean residential area

Bukchon is located between Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine, and is a traditional Korean residential area in Seoul with a history of 600 years. Situated to the north of Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno, it is thus called 'Bukchon'. The more famous aspect of Bukchon is the 'Eight Views of Bukchon', whose architectural forms have been preserved to this day. Bukchon Hanok Village is actually a village of traditional old houses in Korea, somewhat similar to the ancient towns in China. Although Bukchon is now a tourist attraction with many galleries, pubs, restaurants, and a fair number of guesthouses, it does not have the overly commercial atmosphere like in China. It remains a casual and comfortable place where we can appreciate the ancient architecture and old residences while also discovering some modern elements. The integration is quite harmonious and not abrupt. Occasionally stopping to look at Korean crafts and taste Korean snacks makes it a nice place to visit. The Hanok-style residential area is not only full of life in every corner but also very beautiful, making it a great spot for photography. It attracts many foreigners as a tourist destination. Around the area, there are not only unique coffee shops but also many popular food stores and Hanbok rental shops. Renting a Hanbok and strolling through the Hanok alleys after a perm is simply perfect.
