Cheonggyecheon Stream: A Relaxing Spot in the Heart of Seoul

Cheonggyecheon Stream is an ancient waterway stretching approximately 11 kilometers. Over time, as communities settled along its banks, waste and pollution became issues. The government initiated an urban development project to restore the stream's clarity and enhance its surroundings, transforming it into a popular tourist and relaxation spot in the bustling city. The stream starts from Gwanghwamun Square and extends to the Yangnyeong Market, featuring walkways on both sides lined with trees. During the fall, visitors can enjoy the vibrant colors of the changing leaves. Various themed bridges cross the stream, each adorned with historical paintings and photographs. Some sections of the walkway have stepping stones for crossing, which also serve as charming photo spots. At the stream's starting point near Gwanghwamun Square, there's a beautifully lit waterfall to admire. Getting there: Take Subway Line 1 to Jonggak Station, Exit 5.
