Xujiahui Source Second Station - EMI Small Building. In 1908, the French EMI company established the Boer foreign firm in Shanghai. The Boer foreign firm was later renamed EMI Company and built the first record factory and recording studio in China in Xujiahui, Shanghai. At the end of 1920, the EMI record manufacturing factory was completed in Xujiahui and officially put into production. The first batch of records made in China was born in Xujiahui. On January 5, 1952, the Shanghai Record Factory was established on the original site of the EMI Company. In 1953, it was renamed the Shanghai People's Record Factory, and in 1955 it was renamed the China Record Factory. In 2001, due to the Xujiahui Green Project, the record company was relocated as a whole, and the EMI small building at No. 811 Hengshan Road was preserved. In 1934, Nie Er served as the deputy director of the EMI Company's music department. On May 3, 1935, the 'March of the Volunteers' he composed was first recorded here. The master tape recorded at that time was displayed in the EMI small building. The first floor of the small building is currently a restaurant, and the second and third floors are display areas. Here you can feel the unique charm of vinyl records. There is also a looped drama, showing the birth of the 'March of the Volunteers'.
