Legend has it that Qibao Ancient Town was named after the seven treasures: golden rooster, divine tree, jade axe, golden lotus sutra, flying Buddha, dunking bell, and jade chopsticks. Qibao Ancient Town is picturesque and retains the appearance of the ancient town of Jiangnan Water Town, with no shortage of water town elements, preserving the flavor of Jiangnan in every detail. Qibao Town is located at the junction of Puhuitang and Hengli Port in the southwest of Shanghai, with a unique geographical location. The Qibao Bell Tower is located in the Bell Tower Square and is the iconic building of Qibao Ancient Town. One of the legendary seven treasures - the dunking bell is hidden here. The dunking bell is a genuine cultural relic, cast in the seventh year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, and has a history of more than 600 years. The bell is 1.9 meters high, 1 meter in diameter, 9 cm thick, and weighs one ton. Striking the bell in Buddhism implies clearing troubles, increasing wisdom, and ensuring peace. Every New Year's Eve, the bell rings four times, praying for the people of Qibao. Qibao Old Street is laid out in a 'non' character layout, covering an area of about 90 acres, divided into north and south districts along Puhuitang. The south is a snack street, and the north is a craft, traditional folk culture area. The ancient town still retains the complete Ming and Qing architectural style, the residential buildings with black tiles and pink walls, the traditional stone arch bridges, depicting a simple and elegant ink painting.
