Longhua Temple in Shanghai | A Buddhist sanctuary hidden in the bustling metropolis

⛩️⛩️Longhua Temple is located in Longhua Street, it is the oldest and largest ancient temple in Shanghai, its name comes from the story of Maitreya Buddha becoming a Buddha under the Longhua tree in the Buddhist scriptures. There is a Longhua Pagoda in Longhua Temple. Since 1991, the temple has held the New Year's Eve Bell Ringing event every December 31st. ⛩️⛩️Longhua Temple was designated as a national key Buddhist temple in Han Chinese areas by the State Council in 1983. In 2006, Longhua Temple was listed as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
