According to reports, the monastery apartment was the private residence of Chester Fritz, one of the partners of the largest investment company in East Asia at the time - Sinfeng Yanghang. Fritz's wife was also not an ordinary person... There was a saying: the cultural salon of the Republic of China, the north has Mrs. Lin Huiyin's living room, and the south has the flower hall of Shanghai Beach. This flower hall is the monastery apartment at No. 62, Fuxing West Road. The lady of the flower hall is the former owner of the apartment, Mrs. Fritz. In the 1930s, Mrs. Fritz's flower hall was famous and became a Salon where Chinese and foreign elites and literati gathered. This exotic mansion also earned the reputation of the 'first reception room' in old Shanghai.
