Ceramics Gallery.

The Ceramics Gallery is located on the third floor of the East Building of the Shanghai Museum. The exhibition uses ceramics as a medium to tell the story of China and the world from the Sui and Tang dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties in chronological order: the appearance of the objects records the interaction of economy, culture, and technology; the rise and fall of porcelain kilns tells the story of foreign trade and port changes in different eras; the remains of shipwrecks outline the expansion of routes and trade areas; foreign acceptance and imitation reveal the recognition, collision, and integration of cultural customs. It shows the important role of Chinese ceramics in exchanges between China and foreign countries.
