The dome theater in the Shanghai Planetarium has an inner diameter of 23 meters and an outer diameter of 30 meters. Half of the spherical building is suspended above the ground, and is connected to the concrete shell below by 6 support points on the side of the sphere. Between the sphere and the shell, a ring is formed, allowing sunlight to shine into the interior through the ring, forming a "solar eclipse" on the ground inside. The interior of the sphere is equipped with an 8K resolution dome projection system, advanced laser and stage performance systems, and is used to play various films. Located above the main entrance of the planetarium, the second-floor exhibition hall of the main exhibition adopts a cantilever structure, with a cantilever distance of more than 40 meters and a span of more than 60 meters. It is supported by steel shear walls on both sides, and is equipped with 10 1-ton tuned mass dampers to eliminate the vibration at the end of the cantilever. The inclination angle of the round hole corresponds to the altitude angle of the sun, and the sunlight passing through the "round hole" forms a light spot below, which moves in the square and reflection pool as time passes, forming a simple sundial with the special ground paving.
