Zhangyuan, a prime location on West Nanjing Road. Does it ring a bell?

This is Zhangyuan, once known as the "No. 1 Garden in Shanghai." It is the largest, best-preserved, and most diverse mid-to-late Shikumen building complex in Shanghai. Zhangyuan is in a prime location, right next to West Nanjing Road and Wujiang Road. Just across the street is Fengshengli, a foodie's paradise. In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, this was the center of political, cultural, and entertainment activities in Shanghai, and the top place for citizens to gather.
