■ Zhongshan Park, located at the confluence of Zhenjiang and Wujiang rivers in Shaoguan City, has a very advantageous geographical location. Every Shaoguan resident is very familiar with Zhongshan Park. You might say you haven't been to other parks in Shaoguan, but it's rare for someone to say they haven't been to Zhongshan Park. After all, it's close to the city center, and the transportation is very convenient. Whether driving, taking a bus, or even walking, it's easy to get there. However, places that are too familiar often get 'overlooked', including by me. When I was younger, I liked parks, but after starting work, I seldom visited them. Perhaps as I reached middle age, my mindset changed, and I gradually began to enjoy the slow-paced life of the countryside. ■ Although there hasn't been a typhoon in Shaoguan these past few days, it has entered the 'dog days' of summer, with temperatures rising daily. This sauna-like weather is unbearable even in the evenings. Such high temperatures make it impossible to go far, so it's suitable to visit places by the river or with lush greenery. That's why I specifically came to Zhongshan Park for a walk. Normally, I wouldn't think of coming here. In this hot weather, the park is almost empty, as most people prefer to stay in air-conditioned rooms. However, walking under the dense trees around the park's perimeter is still bearable. The entire park is divided into different areas. In the children's amusement area, although the machines are operating as usual, there are hardly any children playing at this time, so you mostly hear the music from the machines. I prefer the areas with ponds and willow trees. Firstly, they provide shade from the sun, and secondly, the water is visually soothing. In the evening, there are very few elderly people exercising in Zhongshan Park due to the high temperatures. Walking along the paths feels like having the park to myself.
