The Experience at a High-End Hotel in Shenzhen

For the average person, when it comes to choosing hotel accommodations, most would not opt for very expensive hotels; those high-end hotels are mostly the choice of businessmen and business travelers. However, life is about trying new things, and it's okay to treat yourself a little better and reward yourself from time to time during the decades of one's life. Not long ago, I tried staying at the Shenzhen Peninsula Hotel for the first time. The reason for choosing this place was the many online reviews I read about the hotel, especially about its excellent buffet breakfast. What was it like? Its high price is due to its location in Shenzhen, in the bustling area of the city, and also its brand. Personally, I felt it was quite good; of course, in a second-tier city, such a price would not be necessary. The room was clean and hygienic, with an appropriate size, and the high floor with double-glazed windows kept out the noise of the busy streets. The front desk upgraded me to a deluxe twin room. Over nine hundred yuan a day, it would have been perfect if, in addition to the down comforter, there was also a cotton blanket provided, but there wasn't. The bathroom and shower space were naturally larger, meeting high-end standards. The highlight, the buffet breakfast, was not as luxurious as I imagined. There were fresh vegetable and noodle stalls, as well as freshly made rice noodle rolls, and of course, fruits, desserts, and bread were indispensable, but it felt quite ordinary. The buffet time from 6:30 to 10:30 was commendable, and the service staff were very attentive; upon request, the female servers would proactively offer hot tea or coffee, and the clearing of plates was prompt, showcasing quality service. After all, with an accommodation cost of over nine hundred yuan a day, the hotel does put in the effort. As for the hotel's 50th-floor revolving restaurant offering buffet breakfast, it is only available on weekends, while on weekdays, the breakfast is served on the second floor. Personally, I feel this somewhat reduces the attraction. If the revolving restaurant could offer buffet breakfast during regular weekdays, then the stay for over nine hundred yuan a day would truly live up to its name. Overall rating: Not bad.
