Don't miss Tashilhunpo Monastery when you visit Shigatse

Ganden Monastery, Drepung Monastery, and Sera Monastery (these three monasteries are located near Lhasa and are collectively known as the Three Great Monasteries of Lhasa), Tashilhunpo Monastery (located at the foot of Nima Mountain, west of Shigatse City in Tsang), Kumbum Monastery (located in Lusha'er Town, Huangzhong County, Qinghai Province, 26 km from Xining City), and Labrang Monastery (located in Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province) are the six major monasteries of the Gelug school. Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse was built in 1447 under the supervision of Gendun Drup, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, and the first Dalai Lama. Here, you can find countless beautiful places to take photos 📸. ​Tickets: CNY 100 in peak season, CNY 50 in off season It is recommended to hire a guide, otherwise you will be left in the dark. There are guides designated by the scenic area at the entrance and exit of the parking lot. We hired one for CNY 200, and the guide explained for about an hour. It seems that the monks in the monastery can also explain for you, but this requires the monk to be relatively free and able to speak Mandarin. 💪💪💪Highly recommended: There is a cultural and creative store of Tashilhunpo Monastery at the exit. You must go in and have a look. The items here are all blessed by the monastery and are reasonably priced. You can buy some incense ash lacquer beads or bracelets to take home. I bought a bracelet and a gourd made of incense ash lacquer beads.
