Don’t be fooled by the crowded entrance

When you arrive at the park it’s likely you’ll see crowds of tourist groups gathering up. Don’t let this put you off. Once you get into the park and onto the trails you’ll find plenty of time to be alone with the stones. They will recommend you buy a bus ticket for an extra 25 rmb to get you to and from the ticket booth to the entrance of the park since it’s a bit of a walk. You can drive straight from Kunming or stay in a local hotel near the stone forest for convenience. If you plan on more than one day I’d recommend staying locally.
