South Gate

#bucketlistreboot Angkor Thom is 3km by 3km in size with five gates ( North, South, West and 2 from the East ) and 8 metres high laterite wall that encloses the city with the moat around it. Angkor Thom was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire, it was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. It is located around 2 kilometers 5 minutes drive from Angkor Wat and will reach the southern gate, with a bridge of statues of gods and demons carrying the body of seven headed Naga.This appears to be the reference to the myth, popular in Angkor, of the churning of the sea of milk. Southern gate is the nicer gate out of the 5 gates that you are advised to visit.
