An Incomplete Exploration of the Singapore Botanic Gardens

It's been less than a day, and it seems I've already forgotten which plants are in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. There are clearly a lot of plants there. The clearest memory I have is of meeting a Chinese garden manager in the Vine Garden. He told me that the vine I was observing came from a faraway place, was slightly poisonous, capable of killing small fish, and had a fragrant flower. However, perhaps due to the unsuitable soil and water, it didn't like to bloom; he had waited 8 or 9 years without seeing it flower. Later, on someone else's recommendation, he saw one that had bloomed at Changi Airport, where it's cooler, which might be more suitable for its growth habits. The plants here come from all over the world. I wonder how many plants, like that vine, have come from afar. Although they are alive, they are far from their native soil and kin, as well as from a more suitable environment; they are alive, but just barely. Perhaps it is because it's hard to leave their native land that the most vibrant part of the garden is the Tropical Rainforest Garden. It's so green that it makes one's heart race and blood boil. If it happens to rain, it looks even more beautiful. One must be wary of the rain here; it just poured down on the other side of the woods, with a clear boundary as if it was artificially induced. In the blink of an eye, it crossed the boundary of the woods and chased after us, falling as if in retaliation for our disdain. It seemed to say: 'This is my territory, dare to underestimate me, and I shall show you some color!' On my first visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, it felt like I encountered the sacred connection between plants and nature.
