Staycay @ The Fullerton Hotel

Heard a lot about The Fullerton Hotel and we were really excited about our 3d2n stay at Heritage Room (City View). We went there with expectations of a well-known and iconic 5 stars hotel. Indeed, the building infrastructure and grand entrance were looking great however, there are so many short falls which other 5 stars hotel have outdone them. I would like to classify this as a one-off incident, so just read to lower your expectations. 1) When we reached the hotel, no one greeted us nor assist us with our luggage until the guy who processed our check-in. He was really nice and polite, so it kind of balance off. 2) For a birthday celebration staycation, the room was not even decorated in any ways. Even a 4-star hotel that we been to, will write notes to us or fold up some towels on top of a slice of cake. 3) We were traveling via hired cars and taxi, The staff at the entrance do not even bother opening car doors but chit chatting away. However for some instance, I do see them opening the car doors for the guests in front of us. Maybe just luck? 4) The staff at concierge, when we approached them for pool direction, they did not greet us and not direct with a proper gesture. From my understanding, proper hand gesture is pretty much a standard across 5-star hotel. 5) My partner ordered a cake, different staff provided different answers. He called the reception, they said will check and get back, but never did. He went down to check with the staff 1 said we could leave the cake at concierge and the other staff when approached upon arrival of cake, he said the hotel could not handle external food. In the end, he had to rush for the cake collection when our ride was approaching. With the above, I doubt we will be back anytime soon...
