Being a local or a forgeiner, one ideal place to stay here in singapore is the Oasia Hotel at downtown which is located at the heart of tanjong pagar which is also less than a 5min walk away from the tanjong pagar mrt. For food options alone, tanjong pagar is filled with the many bbq Korean food options, cafe and such so you definitely do not need to worry when it comes for food options. The hotel itself is a nice cosy 4 star hotel with full facilities that includes a pool and a fully equipped gym too! We had a chance to head up to the lounge which is more of the upclass feel of having the buffet breakfast instead.
