Sitges Sculpture Girl from Malvasia Escultura La Chica de la Malvasia | Sitges Passeig de la Ribera, 08870 Sitges Barcelona This monument is a tribute to the people of Sitges who will work in the Malvasia collita, a grape variety that will sweep through Sitges from the beginning and become one of the six main sources of wealth. The sculpture depicts a bride carrying a basket of Lem grapes, with grape clusters embedded in the basket. At the base of the sculpture, there is a mosaic with an inscription by the poet Trinitat Catasús, which says: "When the wine grows its first vines, the night also has some light and restrained sweaters." This work reminds us of the Sitgetans who will work in the Malvasia collita. The image of the happy bride conveys the values of work and freedom. The work took more than half a year using the "lost wax" technique, weighs a total of 200 kilograms, and is primarily made of bronze. Sitges·Garraf
