The city is a perfect blend of history and modernity, with Diocletian’s Palace at the heart of it all. Walking through the narrow streets of the Old Town feels like stepping back in time, with Roman ruins blending seamlessly into modern shops and cafes. The best part? Entrance to the palace is free, although some areas, like the cathedral and bell tower, require a small fee (around €5-10). One of the highlights was hiking up Marjan Hill, where the views of the city and Adriatic Sea are breathtaking. Afterward, I cooled off with a swim at Bačvice Beach, which is just a short walk from the center. If you’re into nature, a quick ferry ride can take you to the nearby islands like Hvar or Brac for a day trip. Split is also full of great restaurants and bars – the seafood is fresh and the local wine is fantastic.
