Sips in Stellenbosch: A Wine Lover's Paradise

Stellenbosch is a town in Cape Town South Africa. It has an abundance of vineyards and is in the cool mountainous area. This is really a wine lover's paradise where you can enjoy delicious quality wine and admire the beautiful landscapes. Getting There - It is about an hour's drive from main city of Cape Town. Recommend joining a day tour which brings you to more than one vineyard. Highlights - The highlight will be visiting multiple vineyards and havign wine tasting with cheese pairing and also cured meat. Personally visited two vineyards - Fairview and Marianne and tasted over 10 types. The cheese at Fairview were made by the vineyard themselves and very delicious. Tried the traditional meat jerky (biltong) pairing with wine at Marianne and goes really well. At both vineyards, the staff gave a tour of how they brew the wine and provided details of every single wine we tasted including red, white, rose and sweet wines. Hotels - You may choose to stay in some of the vineyards which also offer accomodations for a country side escape. Shopping - There are huge selections of wines, cheeses and biltong that you can purchase in the area, where they can package it nicely for tourists to bring home. #travellerswonderland #bars #photolocation #100waysoftravel
