Indonesia - Surabaya: Get to know a city and its history from a hotel!

Traveling with my mom - our fifth hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia, we chose the Majapahit Surabaya. This is also the hotel I personally think is the most worth staying in Surabaya! Because this is a hotel with historical significance - it is also a landmark building of Surabaya's cultural heritage. Its predecessor was the Mandarin Oriental's Majapahit Surabaya, which opened in 1910 - originally called the Oranje Hotel, and the Raffles Hotel in Singapore are both works of the Armenian businessman Sarkies Brothers, and it has been 114 years to this day! Choosing the Majapahit Surabaya is to choose a nostalgic feeling, explore the unique accommodation experience of Dutch-style architecture - the history, romance and elegance here have left a deep impression on us. Many places in the hotel still display photos and objects of the historical buildings of this hotel and Surabaya in the last century - and the Dutch colonial architectural style hotel has actually become a small immersive nostalgic experience museum. The hotel's main restaurant is called Indigo Bar & Restaurant. This name comes from the combination of purple and blue colors in the spectrum of the restaurant's top view - Indigo Restaurant is a fusion dining experience, Eastern and Western cuisine in a typical decorative art colorful environment.
