Wuzhen Taoist Temple was built in the third year of Chunxi in the Southern Song Dynasty (1176) and has a history of 800 years. It is a quiet place for cultivation in the downtown area. The Taoist temple mainly worships Gu Kaizhi, a painter of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, known as the "painting saint". It is said that during the Yixi period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the land of Wu suffered a severe drought. Gu Kaizhi, a military officer who passed by, was moved and used military food to relieve the hungry people, but was harmed by treacherous slander. When the people learned about it, they built a "General Temple" with thatch to commemorate Gu Kaizhi. When Emperor Qianlong went south to the imperial kiln, he learned about the origin of the "General Temple", wrote the plaque "Yingfeng Qian Gu" with his own pen, and allocated funds for repairs. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the "General Temple" was renamed "Wuzhen Taoist Temple". The Taoist temple has built the Jade Emperor Hall, Lvzu Hall, Guanyin Hall, Yuanchen Hall, God of Wealth Hall, etc., and also built archways, verandas, pavilions and other buildings. Among them, there are "Twenty-four Filial Piety" illustrations and the full text of Lao Tzu's "Tao Te Ching" in the veranda. There are few people, which is very suitable for quiet study and practice.
