| I would stay here with my family. I took my family to Suzhou for the weekend. Since it was their first time in Suzhou, I knew exactly what I wanted: a garden hotel in Gusu District. I didn't hesitate to book this hotel. I had stayed at the Kempinski in Samui before and it left a good impression on me. It's a great place to bring your family (especially the elderly). About the room: It was very clean overall. We stayed on the 3rd floor and it wasn't noisy. The balcony was a great place to relax when the weather was good. In the evening, you could watch the sunset and the small houses in Suzhou. About the service: I saw a lot of comments saying that the hotel service was bad, but it was actually okay. We checked in an hour late and they gave us two drink coupons that we could use at the bar. I didn't have high expectations for the food, but it was actually really good. The Suzhou noodles were delicious, the wontons were average, the bread and egg tarts were also good, and of course, I had to have a coconut. The latte was better than a lot of other hotels. The hotel pool is on the basement level. It's pretty standard. There were also people who weren't hotel guests there for a class, so it was a bit crowded! About the hotel overall: The garden was beautiful and they kept the bamboo forest from the previous hotel. It was a novelty for my family to stroll around, but the hotel wasn't very big. After walking around, there wasn't much else to do. The hotel lobby was also small and there weren't many places to sit. Personally, I felt that it didn't have as much of a vacation feel as the hotels in Zhejiang. However, the main reason to stay here is the great location. So if it's your first time in Suzhou and you want to visit the gardens in Gusu District, and you're bringing elderly family members and want to go out without any pressure, Kempinski is definitely the best choice.
