Han Dynasty Memories: The Life and Beliefs of the Han Dynasty

2024 is coming to an end, and the last special exhibition of the Suzhou Museum West Pavilion has also unveiled its mystery. With the theme of the life and beliefs of the Han Dynasty, it showcases a unified dynasty that lasted for more than 400 years. From the early years, when society was in decline and everything was waiting to be done, to the implementation of Huang-Lao philosophy and the rest of the people, to the rule of Emperor Wen and Emperor Jing and the strengthening of the country by Emperor Wu, it finally laid the foundation for the brilliant art of Chinese civilization. The exhibition starts from two parts: life and beliefs. Through pottery houses, pottery wells, pottery warehouses, pottery stoves, and various wine vessels, water vessels, food vessels, and lamps and stoves unearthed from Han tombs, it reveals the true appearance of the Han people 2,000 years ago from different levels, recreating the diligence, warmth, and abundance of the Han people in their daily lives. In addition, the exhibition also brings together the three major terracotta warriors of the Han Dynasty: the Terracotta Warriors of Yangling Mausoleum of Emperor Jing of Han, the Terracotta Warriors of Yangjiawan in Xianyang, and the Terracotta Warriors of Shizishan in Xuzhou.
