Shangshu Lane Historical and Cultural District: An ancient town from the Han and Tang dynasties, a famous city from the Song dynasty

Shangshu Lane Historical and Cultural District is located in the core area of the ancient city of Taining County, Sanming City, Fujian Province, and has a history of more than 400 years. It is currently the best-preserved Ming Dynasty residential architecture in the Jiangnan region of China, covering a total area of 13,000 square meters, with the Shangshu Residence and the Shide Hall as the two main buildings. The Shangshu Residence was announced as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 1988, and the Shide Hall was incorporated into the Shangshu Residence architectural complex and announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2001. The overall architectural scale is grand, dignified and elegant, with a rigorous layout and exquisite craftsmanship. It not only draws on the grandeur of the official buildings in the capital but also integrates elements of the local mansion-style architecture, forming the unique 'three halls and nine buildings' traditional brick-wood structure architectural pattern of Taining.
