🌈Attraction Features: Qiao Garden, also known as Risheng Garden, is a private garden built during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era. It is one of the earliest existing classical gardens in northern Jiangsu and is known as 'the finest garden to the left of the Huai River'. 【Qiao Garden】was originally the residence of Chen Yuan from the Ming Dynasty, named after Tao Yuanming's phrase from 'Returning Home' - 'The garden is interesting as one walks in it every day', hence the name 【Risheng Garden】. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty's Kangxi era, it was transferred to the Tian family, and during the Yongzheng era, it came into the possession of Gao Fengzhu, who renamed it 【Sanfeng Garden】 after the three newly placed stone spires. The garden reached its peak during this period, boasting fourteen scenic spots, making people exclaim 'The beauty of the garden is boundless'. In the ninth year of the Xianfeng era, Wu Wenxi bought the garden and renamed it 【Zhe Garden】 with the intention of 'hiding in the desolate garden', but before he could retire there, the garden changed hands to Qiao Songnian, the Salt Transport Commissioner of Lianghuai, and has been known as Qiao Garden ever since. Over the past 400 years, Qiao Garden has changed hands frequently, with different names and changes in scenery during each period. The existing parts are not as grand as during the 【Sanfeng Garden】 era, but one can still appreciate the winding paths, interesting structures, and exquisite lattice windows. The layout is compact and well-arranged, offering both beauty and enjoyment. As Mr. Qiao himself said, 'Although the small garden is simple, the fine trees are commendable, and the green earth and gray officials are more splendid than the luxurious pavilions and carved vines.' 'The garden is interesting as one walks in it every day, and the gate is set but always closed' - strolling in the courtyard, what one seeks is tranquility, and what one enjoys is peace. Compared to the overcrowded Suzhou and Hangzhou gardens, I find the less crowded and quiet 【Qiao Garden】 more elegant.
